Opening the doors to the home of climate

The time has come. 9Zero has officially arrived, and it couldn’t be at a more critical moment for our collective futures.

When Matthew Joehnk and I started working on 9Zero less than a year ago, we did so with one goal: develop a community to accelerate climate solutions by bringing together all stakeholders in the ecosystem. Today, as we head into SF Climate Week, we are excited to take a step further in our vision for the future of climate as we announce the opening of our first physical climate innovation hub in San Francisco and launch the public beta of 9Z, our digital hub.

9Zero is coworking with a purpose beyond just providing a desk, and we believe that connection is critical to accelerating innovation. That is why we are creating both physical and digital hubs to bring passionate people working on climate solutions together to advance innovation in the climate space.

One of the many things I learned from founding Rocketspace was that ideas and progress compound when like minded people are working together. I saw this first hand with companies like Spotify and Beatport scaling their companies almost side-by-side at our Rocketspace in San Francisco. If we can bring together the climate community in a similar fashion, supercharged with a digital hub to facilitate wide-reaching connection, the results will be massive.

"Uniting sustainability innovators across all sectors of climate is one of the best things you can do to save the planet,” said Shuo Yang, Partner, Lowercarbon Capital. "Investing in climate solutions is smart business, and 9Zero's approach will drive substantial benefit and profits for all involved."

This is a huge deal, because I believe that the climate revolution will be much larger in economic impact and global relevance compared to previous revolutions in digital and mobile computing. We are on the verge of witnessing the creation of companies that will positively impact our climate and be worth billions of dollars. When I think of the potential I am beyond excited to open the doors to 9Zero and support the people, companies, and venture capital firms working to build real solutions to sustain and protect the planet.

Worldwide, San Francisco is synonymous with big ideas and innovation, which is why we decided on it for our first 9Zero coworking space.

As Tyrone Jue, Environment Director, City and County of San Francisco, and friend of 9Zero puts it, “San Francisco’s pioneering spirit and environmental leadership make it the ideal birthplace for 9Zero. This downtown climate hub will be a beacon of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability, poised to propel San Francisco forward as the vanguard of the global climate technology revolution.”

We also plan to use our physical locations, starting with San Francisco, as social and meeting spaces featuring networking events, speaking engagements and broad connection opportunities for members of the sustainability community. Digital hub members will also have access to physical locations as a membership benefit, furthering the connection points 9Zero provides.

Stay with us to follow progress on U.S. and international expansion, as well as stories of innovation progress through connection. If not us, then who?
